Roll On/Roll Off Services for Árainn Mhór

Éamon Ó Cuív T.D., Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, has announced that a roll on/roll off contract for Árainn Mhór, Co. Donegal, for the period of the 1 September 2009 to 31 August 2014 has been agreed between his Department and Maoin na Farraige Teo/Cara na nOileán Teo. The contract is valued at a total of €1,068,000.
The provision of this state subsidy will ensure that the island has a comprehensive passenger, cargo and vehicular transport service, particularly during the winter months when the real benefits of the subsidy kickúin. Making the announcement, Minister Ó Cuív said:
"I am delighted to make this announcement today. This arrangement will ensure that Árainn Mhór will benefit from a firstúclass roll on/roll off service for many years to come. Such a service is beneficial and vital to the island community in both economic and social terms."
