€60,602 sanctioned by Ó Cuív for safety works on Cé an Chalaidh Mhóir - Inis Meáin

Éamon Ó Cuív T.D., Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, has announced that he has sanctioned a grant of €60,602 to carry out safety works on Cé an Chalaidh Mhóir, Inis Meáin, Co. Galway.
The works include the installation of fenders, lighting, stairs and a railing along the edge of the pier.
"I am delighted to sanction this grant to enhance the safety of this pier for both islanders and visitors alike," the Minister said.
Cé an Chalaidh Mhóir, was officially opened by Minister Ó Cuív on November 3rd 2008. The works consisted of the dredging of a new berthing pool, the construction of a new pier, on-shore and off-shore break water, access road and parking facilities and the development of the harbour itself. The cost of the development came to almost €14m. The construction company, SIAC, won the Irish Concrete Society's 2008 Infrastructural and Overall Award for Excellence for the sheltered harbour project.
