The Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Éamon Ó Cuív TD has said that he was delighted to have been able to provide €1.5m to Forum Connemara for the approval of projects under the current LEADER round of the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013. “To date, Forum Connemara has approved projects to the value of €127,000,” he said, “which means that they have €1.378m available immediately for the approval of projects.”
Minister Ó Cuív has encouraged people in the Connemara area (Forum Connemara covers the non-Gaeltacht area of Connemara, excluding the islands) to lodge applications as quickly as possible with Forum Connemara so that the money that is available is used as expeditiously as possible. This money can be used for a wide range of projects from community projects to private business developments.
To date, under the LEADER element of the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013, €160,000 also has been made available to Forum Connemara for administration of the programme.
