Éamon Ó Cuív T.D., Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, announced today (8/10/09) that he has sanctioned €378,380 to Conradh na Gaeilge, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, to carry out restoration work on "Dún Mhuire". The works to be carried out will include: restoration of the roof, indoor and outdoor plastering, a new ceiling indoors, as well as new floors.

Coláiste Chomáin in Ros Dumhach (Rossport) is to get a major revamp following approval for funding to carry out extensive building and renovation works in the Gaeltacht school, according to the Minster for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Éamon Ó Cuív TD.

Minster Ó Cuív said his Cabinet colleague, Education Minister Batt O'Keeffe TD, informed him that the Department had accepted the most competitive tender of almost €340,000 for the works which include:

Roll On/Roll Off Services for Árainn Mhór

Éamon Ó Cuív T.D., Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, has announced that a roll on/roll off contract for Árainn Mhór, Co. Donegal, for the period of the 1 September 2009 to 31 August 2014 has been agreed between his Department and Maoin na Farraige Teo/Cara na nOileán Teo. The contract is valued at a total of €1,068,000.

€20,000 for Slipway at Poll an Mhadaidh Beach in Co. Donegal

Éamon Ó Cuív T.D., Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, has announced that he has sanctioned a grant of €20,000 to finish works on the slipway at Poll an Mhadaidh Beach on Árainn Mhór in Co. Donegal.

Work began on the slipway last year with funding from the minor works programme for the islands and it was agreed at the time to finish that work this year. Works on the slipway cost €80,000 in total, with the County Council providing 50% of that funding.

"Join in the fun on a trail near you in Galway for National Trails Day this Sunday," urges Ó Cuív

The Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Éamon Ó Cuív TD urges Galway people to put on their hiking boots, runners or wellies this Sunday, October the 4th and take part in one of the many free events organised for National Trails Day 2009.

A wide variety of events are planned all over the country, ranging from family-oriented walks, mountain bike trails and even water trails for canoeists and kayakers. This year's National Trails Day has been expanded from 70 events last year to 100 this year.
