Ó Cuív welcomes significant progress of Broadband Services in Co. Galway

Níl leagan aistrithe ar fáil.Éamon Ó Cuív TD, Minister for Social Protection has today (Friday, 30 July 2010) welcomed confirmation from the National Broadband Scheme providers 3, that the following eleven district electoral divisions (DEDs) in Co. Galway (list below) are to be covered under the National Broadband Scheme and are expected to go ‘live’ for broadband by October 23rd at the latest, with certain areas going ‘live’ before then.
Welcoming progress on Galway’s broadband services which will benefit both households and local businesses, Minister Éamon Ó Cuív said: “The expansion of 3’s quality mobile broadband will bring innumerable benefits to people in rural areas in Co. Galway as well as providing opportunities for existing and new businesses. Improved broadband services bring increased productivity and efficiency and are changing the dynamics of Galway and the west. I have been working to get high-quality broadband infrastructure in all communities in Galway. I am delighted that these broadband works are progressing and I wish to commend the company 3 for their commitment to this project.”
Damien Gallagher, National Broadband Scheme Project Director for 3 said: “3’s high quality and affordable broadband offering supporting speeds up to 14.4Mb throughout the county, will have enormous benefits for rural businesses and we are determined to supply them with the best service available. Broadband in the home will have huge benefits for all the family allowing working from home, online banking, booking holidays and airline tickets, online shopping, using farming websites as well as enabling online education and research for homework and college projects.”
