Ó Cuiv welcomes support to Ability West and Galway Centre for Independent Living

Éamon Ó Cuív TD, Minister for Social Protection has today (29 July 2010) welcomed funding allocated by Government to support organisations that help people with disabilities and mental health needs. Éamon Ó Cuív TD, Minister for Social Protection has this afternoon (Wednesday 28 July 2010) welcomed Government funding of over €2.2 million which is to be allocated by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to both Galway City and County Councils to assist with the running costs of the Councils’ water and sewerage treatment plants and the sampling and licensing costs associated with the water services. Éamon Ó Cuív TD, Minister for Social Protection this morning officially opened the N59 (Derrylea) road Realignment Scheme and Cycle Path which is a stretch of 3.8km of single carriageway in the townlands of Gowlan West and Derrylea, Co. Galway. The new stretch of road and rural cycle path has been completed at a cost of over €4.4 million.
Minister Éamon Ó Cuív TD welcomes Lumension’s 20 new jobs

A further jobs announcement for Galway has been welcomed this morning (Monday 19 July 2010) by Éamon Ó Cuív TD, Minister for Social Protection. Global software security firm Lumension, is to employ 20 new staff before the end of this year. This will bring the company’s Galway workforce to a total of 50 staff.
Ó Cuív: €169 million available for more flexible Back to Education Allowance Scheme for 2010/11 academic year

Minister for Social Protection, Éamon Ó Cuív TD has announced today (Sunday, 18 July 2010) that over €169 million is being provided by Government for his Department’s Back to Education Allowance scheme (BTEA) for the 2010/11 academic year and he is “encouraging people who are on a social welfare payment who are considering returning to education to apply in good time.”Statement from Éamon Ó Cuív T.D. in relation to the draft final report on flooding on the Clare River in 2009

Minister Éamon Ó Cuív has been informed by Dr. Martin Mansergh T.D. that a draft final report of the study carried out following the flooding on the Clare River in 2009 was received on the 25th June.
The draft report is currently being examined by the Joint Working Group and is expected that it would be finalised next week. Minister Mansergh expects to receive the conclusions of the Joint Working Group in relation to the mitigation works recommended in the final report shortly thereafter.
Ó Cuív welcomes TESCO and ECOSEAL new jobs for Galway

Minister for Social Protection Éamon Ó Cuív TD has welcomed Tesco Ireland’s announcement today (14 July 2010) that it is to create 110 jobs in a new Oranmore branch.
The announcement is part of a €113 million investment in Ireland by the company.
